Deleted screenplays are kept here for 30 days, then removed permanently. Maximum 20 deleted screenplays are kept — once the limit is reached, the oldest one is removed first.
When Auto Backup is ON, a .json and a .pdf copy of your projects will be saved (and updated any time you make a change) inside a folder in your Google Drive. The .json file can be reimported into Scenestudio7 without losing any formatting. Deleting a project from Scenestudio7 WILL NOT delete it from your Google Drive.
Note: the unlock key generated after your donation can be used on up to 3 devices and is valid for 1 year from your donation date.
Donate via PayPalWhen your Google Drive is configured and connected, auto-sync is always ON. Every time you make a change in your projects, Scenestudio7 automatically syncs it to your Drive. The button is here, just so if you want to be "extra" sure.

2.1 Data stored only in your browser. By default, your projects (screenplays, story maps) are saved locally in your browser's localStorage. We don't see or process this data unless you enable one of the optional features described below.
2.2 Real-time co-writing (collaborative sync). If you enable collaborative writing, your project's content is sent to and stored in clear text on our servers (Cloudflare Workers/Durable Objects), so it can be synced across the devices/collaborators connected to the same room. This content is not end-to-end encrypted: security relies on the encrypted connection (TLS/WSS) to our servers, not on a password shared between clients. We recommend not including sensitive personal data about third parties in content shared this way.
2.3 Google Drive sync and backup (optional). If you connect your Google account, the app automatically syncs a single hidden file containing your project data to your Google Drive, using Google's restricted drive.file and drive.appdata scopes — it cannot see or access the rest of your Drive. This keeps your projects synced across devices signed into the same account, and starts as soon as you connect, in the background. If you separately turn on "Auto Backup", the app also creates a visible folder in your Google Drive containing a .json and a .pdf copy of each project, updated whenever you make a change; deleting a project in the app does not delete this backup copy from Drive. The access token is stored in your browser (localStorage) and refreshed automatically while you're connected.
2.4 Donations (PayPal). If you make a donation via PayPal, we receive a notification (IPN) from PayPal containing payment-related data (e.g. the payer's email, amount, transaction ID, payment status). We use this data solely to generate and deliver your unlock key for premium features, and to prevent duplicate key generation for the same transaction. We do not permanently store your PayPal email or other donation details beyond the retention periods listed below.
2.5 Unlock key and device ID. To limit each key to a maximum number of devices, we generate a random identifier tied to your browser (not linked to your real identity) and store it alongside the key. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally — only to count how many distinct devices have used that key.
2.6 What we don't do. We don't use tracking/advertising cookies or analytics tools, and we don't sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.
Performance of the requested service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for co-writing, syncing, and unlocking features after a donation; consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for the optional Google Drive connection; and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for the device-limit anti-abuse control and to prevent donation fraud.
Cloudflare (Workers, Durable Objects, KV storage) hosts the site and real-time sync infrastructure. PayPal processes payments/donations. Google is involved only if you enable Google Drive backup. Each of these providers processes data according to its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access the data we process about you, request its correction or deletion, object to processing, and request data portability where applicable. To exercise these rights, contact help@scenestudio7.com.
Scenestudio7 is not specifically directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
We may update this policy over time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
